General information only
The Tai Chi Walker publishes general information about walking, balance, mobility and movement ideas associated with Tai Chi. It is intended for interest and general education. It is not medical, physiotherapy or other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your circumstances.
Not a treatment
Nothing on this site presents Tai Chi, walking or any movement idea as a treatment, cure or therapy for any condition. Nothing here should be used to diagnose a health problem or to make decisions about care.
Your own ability
Suggestions in articles are offered as things to notice or try. Approach them according to your own ability, fitness and circumstances, on ground where you feel comfortable, and stop if something causes pain, dizziness or unsteadiness.
If you have a health condition or concern
If you have a health condition, an injury, a history of falls or any concern about your balance or movement, seek appropriate professional advice – for example from your GP or a physiotherapist – before trying something new. If you feel unwell or are hurt, seek medical help.
Walking outdoors
Walking, particularly in the hills, on rough ground or over long distances, carries its own risks, including weather, terrain, navigation and tiredness. Articles about how we move do not replace preparation, suitable equipment, local knowledge or your own judgement on the day.
Research
Where articles refer to research, the summaries are simplified. They describe findings across groups of people, not guaranteed outcomes for any individual, and research understanding can change. Sources are listed at the end of each article that mentions them, so you can read them for yourself.
Accuracy, contributors and links
Care is taken to keep articles accurate, but no guarantee can be given that everything on the site is complete or current. If you spot an error, please let us know. The views of any future contributors are their own. Links to other websites are provided for information, and The Tai Chi Walker is not responsible for their content.
Liability
You use the information on this site at your own discretion. To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Tai Chi Walker accepts no liability for any loss, injury or damage arising from its use. Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
